30 German majors from UNC Charlotte are studying in Germany this summer and in the 2013-14 academic year. Each student received a $2,000 scholarship to undertake immersive language study in a German-speaking country at one of the locations of the prestigious Goethe Institute. Kurt Waldthausen, founder and president of the GLCF, presented the scholarships.

The Charlotte Action Research Project (CHARP) is hosting a Neighborhood Campus Forum on Wednesday May 29 at 5:45 p.m. in Cone University Center 210. Students, faculty and staff are invited. CHARP is a partnership between UNC Charlotte and local Charlotte communities. CHARP’s mission is to match UNC Charlotte students with service learning opportunities through action research in challenged Charlotte neighborhoods and, in the process, develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
Michael S. Doyle, a professor of Spanish and translation studies at UNC Charlotte, will join the United States Air Force Academy faculty in Colorado Springs, Colo. as a Distinguished Visiting Professor from July 1, 2013 through May 28, 2014.
